Hello! My name is Laurel Albina
I am a facilitator, mediator, and popular educator with a background in labour relations and negotiations.
For the past fifteen years I have worked nationally and internationally with organizations and frontline workers. Over the years I’ve stepped into a variety of different roles–organizer, facilitator, negotiator, campaign strategist, curriculum designer, trainer, coach, organizational development and change management consultant—and I’ve always come back to the same principle: what can we do together that we cannot do alone?
Fundamental to my own learning journey and professional development has been an education and commitment to understand how race, racism and systemic oppression impacts our ability to connect, collaborate, and make change.
I am committed to bringing an equity, diversity, inclusion, racial justice and decolonization framework to all my work and deeply value partnering with collaborators outside my lived experience.
More personally, I am a Canadian-born Palestinian American. My parents (separate and respectively) immigrated to Canada to escape war and find stability. I grew up, like many, straddling two worlds and two ways of knowing; my young life was full of contradictions, fraught relationships, and surprising beauty—all of which inform who I am and how I practice this work.
